Axe Cordwood Challenge

Steven Edholm (Skill Cult) issued a challenge, the Axe Cordwood Challenge (ACC)… cut a cord of firewood with an ax only. Not one to shrink from a challenge, and hone my ax skills, I took him up on the offer. This is the hub where I park all my entries (articles, progress photos, video links) here. There’s also some cross-over from other articles dealing with general Ax-Manship I’ve written previously. I’m also chronicling my journey on my YouTube channel with an Axe Cordwood Challenge Playlist.

My first day’s stack of tulip poplar. The stack in the background was sawn and not counted in the challenge.

The front stack is all ax cut, felling, bucking, splitting, and cutting to length. The Red Oak in the rear was sawn and doesn’t count in my Cordwood Challenge.

Love the way ax-cut wood looks when stacked.

Thought I’d add some pine to the mix. Split at felling site to haul back to camp.

All the pine hauled back to camp except for some of the tree top.
