Blog of the Year Award

April will mark my one year anniversary of blogging on Survival Sherpa. What a year! I’ve met so many great friends, stretched my comfort zone, and learned a thing or two on our journey together. Between Dirt Road Girl’s cancer, work, and family, I’ve neglected to mention that Desert Rose (from Family Survival Protocol) nominated me for the “Blog Of The Year” award. Thank you ‘MUCHLY‘! She’s one of the many value adding bloggers that I follow.

Two reasons I’ve not written or posted the award on my site: 1.) I’ve been seriously busy; 2.) I’ve never been one to promote myself. So, today I wanted to thank Desert Rose for her gracious and humbling gesture (sorry it took so long). You rock, girl!

Here are the rules for receiving the award:

1. Post seven interesting things about myself.

2.  Nominate other bloggers who I feel deserve the award.

3.  Let them know about the nomination.

This is the most difficult part of accepting this award – tell seven interesting things about myself. I had to get DRG involved on this one 🙂

  • a. I love my wife (Dirt Road Girl), my family, my pets, and Papa.
  • b. I love to build stuff – mostly from wood.
  • c. I’m a proud Freedom Outlaw.
  • d. I run barefoot and follow a Primal lifestyle in a modern world.
  • e. I love the outdoors, being near nature, raise our own food, and preserving the harvest.
  • f. Smoking bar-b-que!
  • g. I love self-education (education vigilante – taking my education into my own hands), learning lost skills, personal liberty, self-ownership, and  hanging out with value adding friends.

The other part of the award requires me to nominate other bloggers for this award. There are so many fine people with amazing sites that I don’t have time to read everyday. Here are my top nominees:

Durable Faith A durablefaith does not conform to the pattern of this world, it engages the world, overcomes evil with good and stands firm to the end.

The Herbal Survivalist Nikky is dedicated to helping others in Sustaining Oneself and Self Reliance with Natural Medical and Nutritional solutions during an Event, Emergency or Civil Unrest.

Resilient News True resilience isn’t any single thing you do. It’s the cumulative impact of the many things you’ve done and the systems ou’ve done and the systems you’ve put in motion.

SchemaByte Preparedness against job loss, natural disaster, and grid down. SchemaByte is a website dedicated to a single master plan, helping people make the transition from cubicle-confined consumerism to a self-determined life of independent income and disaster preparedness.

The Organic Prepper Daisy Luther – It’s prepping with a different mindset – we stockpile our food with an eye towards avoiding the GMOs, the processed foods, the chemicals and the drugs that are such a part of the North American food supply

Bug Out Nutrition Applying the science of nutrition to survivor scenarios. JP Martin spends his time slaying the conventional wisdom of foods we eat and store.

Survival Punk James Burnette – A Primal/Paleo approved prepper website. His punk attitude isn’t what you might think.

Prepared Christian Chris Ray blogs about preparedness from a Christian world-view. Get to know him better here.

Prepography The Art & Study of Self-Reliance

My Family Survival Plan A survival website/ alternative news dedicated on keeping the American public aware of the daily and future dangers. This blog is growing rapidly.

Sensible Survival This is a blog about common sense preparedness for sensible individuals. I’ve posted several of Hank’s articles and ideas here. Sensible stuff indeed.
